This was the focus of a roundtable
discussion in Abuja by the Internet society of Nigeria, the military and
key players in the field of ICT.
It would be correct to say that the
cyber space is the most vibrant in any society. Nigeria is playing big
in this technological tool even as experts believe there is still so
much to harness.
The meeting focused on the positive and
negative sides of using the internet with emphasis on the need to
elevate cyber security to national concern.
Perhaps more worrisome is the new alert by NITDA on an attack targeting critical sectors of the Nigerian society.
Other speakers at the meeting made a
case for the underserved communities and low income earners through
accessibility, availability and affordability of internet services which
can be channeled into big business.
The meeting also looked at measures that
will offer a positive platform for Nigerian youths to channel their not
too pleasant transactions on the internet to more positive and
impactful use.
